An “African weekend”

(14.12.2007) Zurich. “I have just returned from an ‘African weekend,’” said Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, the international leader of the New Apostolic Church. On 8 December 2007 - the Saturday preceding the second Sunday of Advent - he conducted a divine service in Banjul, Gambia, followed by another divine service in Ziguinchor, Senegal on Sunday, 9 December 2007. Two Apostles and three Bishops were ordained. On the return trip, there was an unscheduled one-day stop in the Senegalese capital of Dakar: the aircraft had a technical defect. [more]

NAC Australia has a new website

(14.12.2007) Fortitude Valley BC. The New Apostolic Church Australia has updated its internet presence. New pages have created a multifaceted presentation to help users become acquainted with the large District Church. Ministers from the world’s fifth continent also serve the pastoral care needs of New Apostolic Christians in the Fiji Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Information Evening on 4 December 2007: A Documentation

(04.12.2007) Zurich. On 4 December 2007 an information evening of the New Apostolic Church took place in Zurich. It dealt with Church-internal topics of both greater and lesser significance. The transmission was sent via satellite from the communications centre of the international head office of the New Apostolic Church in Zurich to around 1,400 congregations in 18 countries of Europe. Cyclone “Guba” causes serious damage in Papua-New Guinea

(30.11.2007) Zurich. District Apostle Andrew Andersen (Australia) relates that cyclone “Guba” struck the Popondetta region of Papua-New Guinea on 16 November, causing serious damage. Unconfirmed reports have stated that some 150 people have already lost their lives as a result of related flooding. Many people are still missing. The entire province is cut off from the outside world. Airplanes are bringing provisions to the local population, since there are no more passable roads. Two of our New Apostolic members are also among the dead. [more]

Information evening 2007: a warm welcome to anyone interested!

(27.11.2007) Zurich. The information evening scheduled for Tuesday, 4 December 2007 will deal with Church-internal topics of both lesser and greater significance. The evening transmission, which will originate from the Communications Centre of the New Apostolic Church’s international head office in Zurich, will commence at 7:45 PM. Approximately 1,400 congregations in 18 countries of Europe will be able to receive the satellite transmission. Anyone interested is invited to participate. [more]

District Apostle successor named in the District Church of Switzerland

(25.11.2007) Zurich. “On Sunday, 6 April 2008 our Chief Apostle will retire me in the presence of all District Apostles and District Apostle Helpers during a divine service in Zurich-Hottingen that will be transmitted by satellite.” Such were the opening words of a letter to the congregations which District Apostle Armin Studer, who leads the District Church of Switzerland, sent to the brethren in his care. Guinea-Bissau transferred to the care of the District Church of North Rhine-Westphalia

(25.11.2007) Dortmund. The New Apostolic Church of North Rhine-Westphalia will take over the administrative leadership of the New Apostolic Church in Guinea-Bissau as of 2008. District Apostle Hagen Wend (District Church of Hessen/Rhineland Palatinate/Saarland), who is currently responsible for this African country on the continent’s west coast, will transfer the care of this region to District Apostle Armin Brinkmann. Three countries, three divine services, three ordinations

(22.11.2007) Kinshasa / Bangui / N’djamena. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, the international church leader of the New Apostolic Church, began his five day whirlwind visit to three countries in Africa in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo on November 14, 2007. He and District Apostle Leslie Latorcai as well as District Apostle Helper Frank Dzur of Canada were greeted and welcomed by District Apostle Wilfried Klingler from Germany, District Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider of France and District Apostle Helper Michael Deppner from D.R. Congo. A flower bouquet was presented to the Chief Apostle while a choir from Kinshasa sang for him. [more]

New “Divine Service Guide” begins with the start of the new church year

(15.11.2007) Zurich. The first Sunday of Advent 2007 will be a special date in the New Apostolic Church: this will be the first time that the new format of the “Word of life” will be used for the divine service. A new version of this preparatory material for use in divine services by the Church’s ministers was discussed and approved in the fall session of the International District Apostle Meeting convened in October 2006. On location in Frankfurt: film sequences for “Image DVD” are in the box

(15.11.2007) Frankfurt. It was a cool autumn day. Nevertheless some 60 New Apostolic members from Frankfurt assembled on a sports field on the first Saturday of November in order to begin shooting some of the scenes for the new multimedia DVD of the New Apostolic Church International. The new means of advertising is scheduled to be completed by the middle of next year, and is being developed under the working title “Image DVD.” It will contain film scenes, animated info-clips, photos, and text.
