Prayers for world peace 2010

(09.09.2010) Zurich. The international New Apostolic Church will again join in praying for peace around the world during this year’s International Day of Peace. Extended liturgy of the New Apostolic Church still to be introduced this year

(21.06.2010) Zurich. An extended liturgy will be introduced in the international New Apostolic Church with the start of the new Church year. In a letter to all the Church’s ministers the international Church leader, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, designated the first Sunday of Advent as the starting point of this new development. Catechism of the New Apostolic Church to be completed shortly

Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, the leader of the New Apostolic Church International, has announced that work on the content of the Catechism of the New Apostolic Church should be complete by early summer 2010. “I am happy that our Catechism is nearly complete after seven years of intensive effort. I would like to express warm thanks to all Apostles and members involved in the production of this work,” said the Chief Apostle. more ...

The creed of the New Apostolic Church has been revised

(06.06.2010) Zurich. As of today the ten Articles of Faith of the New Apostolic Church will appear in revised format. By commission of Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, a Work Group has revised the New Apostolic creed. Concerning this, the international Church leader states: “On account of changes to some doctrinal statements, such as, for example, our understanding of Holy Baptism, a revision had become necessary.” The Chief Apostle goes on to mention that a more specific formulation had become necessary in many of these statements. Membership figures of the global Church as at the end of 2009

(03.05.2010) Zurich. Some 10.5 million people around the world profess the New Apostolic faith. This is approximately 400,000 members, or 3.7 percent, less than the previous year. The reason: in some countries (predominantly in Africa) too few deaths were accounted for over the years. This was determined by means of detailed analyses based on the official death rates in the affected countries. more ...

Church blessing on ruby wedding anniversaries

(20.04.2010) Zurich. Married couples who have been married for 40 years can now, at their express request, receive a Church blessing on their ruby wedding anniversary. This was resolved by the District Apostle Meeting during its spring session in Dortmund this March. The new resolution is valid around the world. more ...

No divine services on New Year’s Day

(20.04.2010) Zurich. Following some discussion in the most recent District Apostle Meeting in Dortmund, the international Church leadership has decided that there will be no divine services anywhere around the world on New Year’s Day 2011. Apostle Raúl Montes de Oca to succeed District Apostle Vilor

(29.03.2010) Zurich/Brasília. District Apostle Guillermo Vilor will be given a festive discharge into a well-deserved retirement in October of this year. He will be turning 66 in May of this year. In a letter to the congregations in his working area, District Apostle Vilor has informed members of who his successor will be: Apostle Raúl Montes de Oca. Change in the leadership of the New Apostolic Church Netherlands starting in 2011

(28.03.2010) Zurich/Hilversum. As of next year, District Apostle Armin Brinkmann of North Rhine-Westphalia will take over the leadership of the New Apostolic Church Netherlands. This announcement was made by Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber in today’s festive divine service in Hilversum. The current District Apostle Theodoor de Bruijn (64) will be festively retired upon reaching the age limit in May of next year. more ...

Worldwide prayers for peace 2009

It has now been several years that the New Apostolic Church has participated in the worldwide prayers for peace which traditionally take place each year during the month of September. The World Council of Churches (ÖRK/WCC/COE), with its seat in Geneva, is calling upon all churches to take part in this initiative of the United Nations. In UN-Resolution 55/282 from 2001, the 21st day of September was chosen to mark the International Day of Prayer for Peace. more ...
