Divine service with ordination in Pasewalk

12.07.2005

Pasewalk. In a divine service on 10 July 2005 in Pasewalk (Mecklenburg, Germany) Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained the hitherto Bishop Rüdiger Krause (44) an apostle. The latter will from now on be responsible for the districts previously in the care of Apostle Karlheinz Schumacher.

Chief Apostle Leber had actually planned to ordain a new district apostle for the District Church of Northern Germany as well. The man designated for this ministry is Apostle Karlheinz Schumacher (61), however he was unfortunately admitted to hospital on Friday of last week (see our report). At the beginning of the service the chief apostle wished his friend and apostle a speedy recovery. He went on to mention that he would continue looking after the District Church of Northern Germany for the time being, but that the ordination would take place as soon as possible.

The divine service was based on the Bible passage: "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples" (John 15: 8). With reference to this passage Chief Apostle Leber said, among other things, that a one-time decision alone does not constitute true discipleship, but that this decision must be repeatedly renewed and reinforced by bearing fruit.
