Close to 100 musicians and choir members from the New Apostolic Church presented on Saturday, November 11, 2006, a Remembrance Day benefit concert for "Variety - The Children's Charity". They presented, in the beautiful auditorium of the Birchmount Park Collegiate, various choral and classical pieces from F. Mendelssohn Bartholdy, J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, A. Dvorak, and many more, to the enjoyment of about 600 people.
(11.12.2006) Namibia. “Freedom from Fear” was the theme for the Day of the Child divine service conducted by District Apostle Noel Barnes for the Sunday school children of Southern Namibia. On the Saturday prior to the service the children gathered at a sport and recreational facility to enjoy some outdoor games.
November session of the European District Apostle Meeting recommends more opportunities for children and youth
(17.11.2006) Zurich. Twice each year the District Apostles of the New Apostolic District Churches of Europe assemble for a European District Apostle Meeting. The group’s session on 15 November 2006 resulted in some general statements on various subjects, including financial decisions and collaboration in certain soul-care projects.
(17.11.2006) Ushuaia. The “land of fire” lies in the southernmost tip of the South American continent. More precisely, the Tierra del Fuego is not a “land” at all, but rather a group of many islands separated from the mainland by the Magellan Strait. Ushuaia, a provincial capital with some 65,000 inhabitants, is home to the southernmost New Apostolic congregation in the world. On Tuesday, 7 November 2006, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber conducted a divine service there.
(14.11.2006) São Paulo. With a surface area of 8.5 million square kilometres, Brazil is the fifth-largest country on earth. On account of the great distances that need to be covered, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained another Apostle to help in the work of the District Churches of Brazil and Bolivia. The new Apostle is the hitherto Bishop Geraldino Aires (58), who will in future work in northern Brazil.
(12.11.2006) Buenos Aires. “Hasta luego – Till we meet again!” It was with these words that Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, leader of the New Apostolic Church International, took leave of his brethren in faith in Argentina. He and a number of District Apostles had been travelling through the South American continent for some two weeks. A new District Apostle was ordained in Argentina.
(06.11.2006) Zurich. When the temperatures rise in high summer, ministers of the New Apostolic Church are no longer required to wear their jackets when preaching from the altar during divine services. To date, officiating ministers have had to wear a black suit in divine services. With this order, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber confirmed the special regulation he announced in the hot summer of 2006.
(26.10.2006) Zurich. The Church leadership of the New Apostolic Church intends to support musical development. This was decided by the District Apostle Meeting during its fall session in Zurich. A corresponding resolution of principles places special emphasis on supporting congregational choirs as well as prospective organists and other instrumentalists.
(25.10.2006) Zurich. The fall session of the District Apostle Meeting of the New Apostolic Church ended on Friday with some new decisions. Both theological and organisational conclusions were reached at the conference. With the exception of two District Apostles who were ill, all District Apostles and District Apostle Helpers attended the District Apostle Meeting in Zurich.
(05.10.2006) Dortmund. As of today the long-planned technical overhaul of the website of the New Apostolic Church North Rhine-Westphalia has been completed. While the contents have mostly remained the same, there have been some refinements in the information offered, as well as some subtle design changes.
