The Wonder of Pentecost

(06.05.2008) Zurich. For the New Apostolic Christian Pentecost is celebrated in remembrance of the day of God's outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the believing Apostles. The New Apostolic Church also recognizes this event as the time from which the church started its work, and that it was the moment of the birth of the church of Christ. To this day it is the belief that the Holy Spirit is the animating force of the true church of Christ. [more]

The New Apostolic Church in Thailand and Korea receive a visit from the Chief Apostle

(02.05.2008) Zurich. An exhausting but blessed trip to Thailand and Korea, which was filled with many different impressions, has come to an end. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber and his companions arrived back in Frankfurt late Monday evening. During his trip, the international Church leader had ordained two Apostles and four Bishops for the country of Pakistan. [more]

Pentecost service in Berlin to be transmitted around the world via satellite

(18.04.2008) Berlin. The divine service of Pentecost 2008 will take place in Berlin this year. It will be transmitted to more than 70 countries around the world via satellite and be translated into a wide variety of languages. The service will be transmitted to South East Asia by internet, to which the northernmost congregation in Greenland will also be connected. The international Church leader, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, will conduct the divine service in the congregation of Berlin-Lichtenberg on Sunday, 11 May 2008. [more]

Chief Apostle Leber ordains a Bishop for Russia

(14.04.2008) Penza. In a divine service on Sunday, 13 April 2008 Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained the hitherto District Elder Vladimir Viktorovich Lasarev (45) a Bishop. The new Bishop will support Apostle Alexander Kondrashov in his working area. [more]

Famine threatens Zambia

(10.04.2008) Dortmund/Lusaka. The three-month rainy season in Zambia unloaded such heavy and enduring rainfalls on some provinces as has not been seen in human memory (we reported). “NAK-karitativ”, the national relief organisation of the New Apostolic Church across Germany with its head office in Dortmund, is preparing to respond to a massive demand for food aid between the months of May and November, as a famine is now threatening the entire country. Bernd Klippert, managing director of “NAK-karitativ” has set aside at least 350,000 Euro for immediate aid. Another 500,000 Euros will follow later on to provide further food aid and seeds. [more]

NAC Switzerland has a new District Apostle

(06.04.2008) Zurich. The brethren of the New Apostolic Church of Switzerland had already been informed months ahead of time about what was to transpire on this momentous Sunday morning: their hitherto District Apostle Armin Studer was to be discharged into a well-deserved retirement after leading the District Church for ten years. Markus Fehlbaum (56) was ordained to succeed him as District Apostle. [more]

(23.03.2008) Zurich. The information evening of 4 December 2007 has elicited some very different reactions, especially as concerns the historical portion. In a letter which Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber has published in the “Our Family” Church magazine (volume 6/2008), he apologised for any “injury” the evening may have caused. [more]

On Easter

(22.03.2008) Zurich. It was still very early on this first day of the week. The grave had been under guard over the Sabbath right up until this morning. Along with some other women, Mary Magdalene made her way to the tomb with the intention of embalming the body of Jesus according to Jewish custom. She was worried about how they would manage to roll the heavy stone away from the entrance to the tomb. When they arrived, "there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow." [more]

Be strong, be brave, and do not be afraid!

(22.03.2008) Zurich. At first, entering Myanmar proved to be more difficult than expected on account of visa problems, “but in the end, everything went well,” wrote Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber in his Monday fax to all the Apostles. On this trip to South East Asia he strengthened the brethren in Myanmar and Cambodia with a Bible passage from Joshua 1: 9, and called out to them: “Be strong, be brave, and do not be afraid!” [more]
