Chief Apostle ordains ministers in West Africa

(24.11.2008) Zurich. Benin and Togo are two neighbouring states on the west coast of Africa. There the work of the New Apostolic Church is directed from Germany, where the New Apostolic District Church of Southern Germany is responsible. During his trip to West Africa from 13 to 19 November 2008, international Church leader Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained several Apostles and Bishops for the two countries. Church plans to bundle humanitarian aid

Chief Apostle regrets the secession of Gerrit Sepers

(14.11.2008) Zurich. The former Apostle Gerrit Sepers from the Netherlands has seceded from the New Apostolic Church, along with his wife. In a letter explaining their secession, Gerrit Sepers describes this as a step that had already been planned for some time. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber, the international Church leader, expressed regret at this decision, but wished the couple God’s blessing on their future path of life. more ...

An Apostle for Guinea-Bissau and a Bishop for Portugal

(14.11.2008) Lisbon. On Sunday, November 9, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber conducted a divine service in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. In the presence of the large festive congregation, he went on to ordain an Apostle for the District Church of Guinea-Bissau and a Bishop for Portugal. District Church of the UK to be served from Hamburg

(10.11.2008) Hamburg. The New Apostolic Church in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be served from Hamburg starting in spring 2009. Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber has asked the two District Apostles Leonard Kolb (USA) and Karlheinz Schumacher (Northern Germany) to realign the various areas of responsibility within the District Church. Congregations in the Indian Ocean transferred to the care of South East Africa

A number of islands in the Indian Ocean that have up until now been served by the District Church of France will now be transferred to the care of the District Church of South East Africa. They include the islands of Mauritius, Mayotte, Rodrigues, La Réunion, and the Seychelles. Such was the agreement between District Apostles Jean-Luc Schneider and Johann R. Kitching. more ...

Goma in a state of emergency

(01.11.2008) Zurich. Goma, the capital of Kivu Province in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is sinking into chaos. The Congolese army has abandoned the city and rebel militias are running rampant in the streets. Many people are either dead or fleeing the region. Our New Apostolic brethren in faith in the city and the surrounding area have also been affected, and we are greatly concerned about their safety! more ...

Youth portal “nacworld” goes online

(01.11.2008) Dortmund. On 1 November 2008, a new social networking site for New Apostolic young people will start up, called "nacworld". The objective of the internet portal will be to promote cross-border contacts between young New Apostolic Christians, particularly in the lead-up to the European Youth Day, on which occasion the New Apostolic Church expects some 40,000 young Christians from all over Europe to gather in Düsseldorf in May 2009. more ...

District Apostle Passuni ordained

(20.10.2008) Zurich/Buenos Aires. Norberto Carlos Passuni is the name of the new District Apostle of the New Apostolic Church of South America. The District Apostle district encompasses the District Churches of Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay . Last Wednesday, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber ordained the 59-year-old, who has served as an Apostle for nearly 20 years. He will be the successor to District Apostle Norberto Batista, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on 29 September after suffering heart failure (we reported). more ...

Leonard Kolb is the new District Apostle for the USA

(13.10.2008) New York. Leonard R. Kolb (52) will from now on lead the New Apostolic Church USA as District Apostle. Prior to ordaining him, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber retired District Apostle Richard Freund (68) who had served for many years as a minister. “You have served the Lord faithfully for 50 years. For this I would like to thank you.” Some 1,000 participants had gathered in New York’s Tilles Center to witness the special act.
